WooCommerce descriptions in another language than the store

A supplier's data sheet pasted in untranslated is a complete description to every rule: it has length, it is unique, it has no placeholder text. It is simply in the wrong language for the shopper reading it.

Content & SEO Medium severity Fix in CatalogLift

Where it comes from

Imports from a manufacturer feed, products copied from another storefront, a temporary description nobody came back to. On a store with thousands of products nobody reads every one.

Store language: Polish
Title: Czajnik z wąską wylewką 900 ml
Description: "A stainless steel gooseneck kettle with a
thermometer in the lid. Works on gas and induction…"

How CatalogLift finds it

For each published product with a real description, a decision model is asked one thing: what language is this text written in? CatalogLift compares the answer with the site language your store reports. A finding opens only when the model is confident, and closes when a later judgement clearly reads the store language again.

The verdict is stored against the exact text that was judged, so an unchanged description is never asked about twice.

Rewrite it, or say it is intended

The finding shows the language found, the store language and the current description. Write the description in the store language, or dismiss the finding with a reason if this product is meant to read that way.

Fair questions, straight answers.

Why is this check off by default?

The language is judged by a decision model, so product descriptions are sent out for a judgement. You switch it on per store in Checks.

My store sells in several languages. Should I use it?

No. The check compares every description with the one site language WooCommerce reports. A deliberately multilingual catalog would be flagged throughout, so leave it off.

What about brand names or a few foreign words?

The question is about the language the description is written in, and a finding opens only when the model is sure. A Polish description that names an English product line stays Polish.

Does it translate the description?

No. The model returns a language, not text. You write the description in your store language or dismiss the finding with a reason.
